Terminology:

  • Post-stack and pre-stack: these are two phases in seismic data processing.
  • SNR: signal-to-noise ratio
  • Trace-editing: a specific task in seismic data processing, which is important and traditionally labor-consuming by manual editing
  • SVD: singular value decomposition
  • SEG-Y: a seismic data format standard that is widely accepted by all geophysics and petroleum companies.  SEG-Y data can be exchanged easily between different software systems.
