The department of Computer Science and Engineering at DUT was established in 1981. Our history began in 1973 with the establishment of the computer software in Mechanics Department .

The computer science and engineering department houses one Research Institude and two Centers and five Teaching &Research Divisions and two Laboratories: Research  Institute of Computer Science and technology, IBM Computer Technology Center, Software Technology  Center ,Teaching and Research Division of Computer Fundamental Technology, Teaching and Research Division of Computer Application, Teaching and Research Division of Computer Architecture, Teaching and Research Division of Computer Software and Theory ,Teaching and Research Division of Computer Network and Communication, Laboratory of Computer Principles, Laboratory of Software .Research Institute Of Computer Science and Technology include five research division: Research Division of Information System and Information Decision Systems, Research Division of High Performance Computing ,Research Division of Computer Graphics and CAD, Research Division of Embedded Systems, Research Division of Distributed Information Processing, Research Division of Natural Language Processing, Research Division of Computer Network.


Currently the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is comprised of 56 academic faculty , 15 professors, 22 associate professors, 13 lecturers ,2 administrative staff, 20 Ph.D. students, 260 M.S. students and 615 undergraduate students.

Our research areas include software engineering, database systems and distributed database systems, high performance computing , natural language processing, computer graphics, intelligent transportation systems, computer aid design(CAD),information system and information decision systems, computer architecture, image processing and pattern recognition, intelligent control, embedded operating systems and embedded application systems, and computer  networking.
